Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 21:28:51 GMT

DENVER (AP) — If the Denver Nuggets can continue their dominance at Ball Arena, they’ll not only conquer LeBron James and Anthony Davis but they’ll also vanquish the ghosts of their horrendous playoff performances against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets have lost all seven playoff series against the Lakers in their history, including inside the NBA bubble in 2020. They meet for the fourth time in the Western Conference finals beginning Tuesday night in Denver. The Nuggets are an NBA-best 40-7 at home and have won all six of their playoff games at Ball Arena.“Maybe one of the best home environments we have in the league,” Lakers first-year coach Darvin Ham said. “Their crowd is going to be on the edge of their seats, standing, stomping, screaming.”After a spirited practice Monday, Nuggets coach Michael Malone didn’t want to talk about Denver’s dismal 8-25 record against the Lakers in the playoffs. The Lakers have gone on to win an NBA championship eac...

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware’s Supreme Court on Monday overturned a judge’s ruling upholding a decision by state officials to prohibit electric vehicle maker Tesla from selling its cars directly to customers. In a ruling last year, a Superior Court judge determined that Delaware’s Motor Vehicle Franchising Practices Act prohibited Tesla, as a manufacturer, from selling its electric cars directly to customers in Delaware. The Supreme Court reversed that decision and sent the case back to Superior Court, noting that the franchise act was enacted to address the disparity in bargaining power that permitted automobile manufacturers to exert economic pressure over their franchises. The justices said the law’s definitions exclude Tesla because the company sells its vehicles directly to consumers without using independent franchise dealers.“It bears repeating that the Franchise Act regulates the business relationship between a manufacturer and a dealer,” wrote Chief Justice Collins Seitz...

LONDON — A U.K. Labour government would seek a bilateral security and defense treaty with Germany in its first six months of winning power. Labour’s Shadow Defense Secretary John Healey said Tuesday the agreement would be modeled on the historic Lancaster House treaties reached by Britain and France in 2010. It would be part of a wider British push to reconnect with European allies if Labour Leader Keir Starmer wins the next U.K. general election.Healey will present the proposal alongside Nils Schmid, the parliamentary group spokesperson for foreign affairs for Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SDP), which leads Germany’s three-party coalition government, at an event in London on Tuesday.“Allies are our strategic strength,” Healey said. “We want a Lancaster House style UK-German defence and security agreement struck within the first six months of a Labour Government. This will grow UK jobs, strengthen NATO and keep Britain safe,” he added. The Labour Party’s policy platfo...
